The castle is
the work of Gherardo Silvani (16th C.). Pomino was recognised for the excellence
of its wines by Cosimo III, the Grand Duke of Tuscany. In 1855 Vittorio degli
Albizi introduced Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot. The grapes are made
into wine in cellars dating from the 1700s. Pomino wines are extremely elegant,
with great personality and richly scented.
