The castle, built around the beginning of the 11th C. as a defensive fort, found itself at the centre of the life of the village of the same name, following the expansion of the adjacent villa in the 1400s. The castle holds the cellars where the aristocratic red wines of the estate are aged. The estate spreads over 600 hectares 184 of which planted with vineyards.
