The present-day villa dates from the 16th C., but two towers enclosed in its walls testify to the original 13th C. structure of the castle, when it was the country residence of the bishops of Florence. The villa sits in the midst of an Italian park, where wines aged in the 13th C. cellars may be tasted in the summer. The estate covers 240 hectares, of which 35 are vineyards.
