DESCRIPTION OF ESTATE
The "Fattoria di Basciano" farm and the "Masi Renzo e C." Winery are two companies owned by the Masi family. Basciano is located on a hill to the right of the river Sieve. A thirteenth century tower dominates the building housing, a farm holiday structure surrounded by vineyards, olive-groves and woods of oak and cypress trees. The whole complex include a room and the cellar for wood ageing. Besides, the project for a modern winery for vinification and wood ageing - which will be realized shortly - has already been approved. The Masi Renzo & C. carries out the whole activity of vinification, bottling and storage in Rùfina, where its well equipped winery is located.

HISTORY OF THE ESTATE AND ITS PEOPLE
The Fattoria di Basciano was bought by the Masi family in 1932. The medieval building complex has recently undergone moderate restoration in the course of which the original architectural structures came to light (portals, architraves, walls...). In the Fifties, the old mixed vines were substituted with specialized varieties and then replaced with intensive-style vineyards around 1990, under the supervision of Paolo Masi. The enological buildings were created by Paolo Masi (the young agronomist's grandfather) and extended after the Second World War - and, again, recently - by his son, Renzo, who brought the production plant to its present size.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE OWNERS
After High School, Renzo Masi began working in the family business. He directed the company together with his wife, Anna Lisa, enlarging it both structurally and commercially. After obtaining a degree in Agricultural studies at the University of Florence in 1990 his son, Paolo, took over the technical management of the company, giving it new impetus towards qualification and product improvement.
