DESCRIPTION OF ESTATE
located on the wooded hills north east of Florence, at an altitude varying between 200 and 400 metres above sea level. The estate includes olive-groves (33 ha), vineyards, cereal cultivation and pasture-land where wild Haflinger horses are bred; farm holiday activities are carried out in 7 apartments. The heart of the estate is the imposing sixteenth-century villa. The cellars can be reached through a doorway on the front below a park of forest trees. They contain 57 wooden barrels below cross vaults, 51 "barriques" and, further on, is the vat room. The Bossi estate produces extra vergin olive oil.

HISTORY OF THE ESTATE AND ITS PEOPLE
The Gondi family has been part of the Florentine nobility since 1197, the year in which Orlando Di Bilicozzo Gondi was a member of the Town Council of the Republic of Florence. The Gondi family also played an important role in France, where they arrived as part of Catherine de' Medici's retinue. For nearly two hundred years they held the highest government and ecclesiastic positions, with four archbishops of Paris. In 1592 they bought the Bossi estate from the Tolomei family, increasing the property they owned in the area. This means that the Gondi family have been wine producers in the Chianti Rùfina area for at least 500 years.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE OWNER
The present owner is Marquis Bonaccorso Gondi, who runs the estate together with his son, Bernardo. The former was the President of the Tuscan Regional Union of Agriculturists from 1983 to 1989. His son, Bernardo, is Vice President of the Chianti Rúfina Consortium, Vice President of the Union of Agriculturists of Florence and a member of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Florence and President of "Azienda Speciale Laboratorio Chimico" of the Chamber of Commerce of Florence.
