DESCRIPTION OF ESTATE
The "Il Frantoio" estate is located at an altitude of 500 meters, on the slopes of mountains which reach a height of one thousand meters at the Muraglione Pass, and then descend down towards the river Sieve. Exposed to the south-east, on particularly suitable soil of a clayey nature, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia del Chianti and Canaiolo Nero vines are cultivated.
The present manager of this estate, whose production origins date back to the sixteenth century, is Mr. Guido Scopetani, who personally follows, with great wisdom and care, all of the farm's operations, ably assisted by his enologist, Stenio Rover.
The estate has a surface area of vineyard of approximately 18 hectares.
The vinification of the grapes produced is carried out using modern techniques, whilst still fully observing local traditions; this makes it possible to obtain around 130,000 bottles of prestigious Chianti Rùfina d.o.c.g. wine Moreover, in the ancient oak casks, the Rùfina Riserva Vigna Macereto reserve wine is carefully aged. This is the pride and joy of the estate which, in addition to the great amount of recognition received, also now appears in many Italian and foreign eno-gastronomical guide books.
From its traditional kegs, the estate also obtains its traditional "Vin Santo" fortified wine, which is also carefully prepared in the silence and isolation of the ancient barrel cellar.
