DESCRIPTION OF THE ESTATE
The Poggioreale vineyards are situated on the right bank of the Sieve river, not far from where it joins the river Arno, at an altitude of 110/150 m. above sea level. The soil is rich in marl, quite loose, with traces of clay. The Poggioreale vineyards are named after the splendid Renaissance villa (which now belongs to the Comune of Rùfina), built in the XVIth century by Ammannati, based on original drawings by Michelangelo, his teacher and adviser. This ancient building stands on the top of a small hill overlooking the town of Rùfina, whilst the farm's specialized vineyards climb along the hills on the opposite side of the river Sieve.
