DESCRIPTION OF ESTATE
The Castle of Trebbio was built as an "aristocratic residence" in the XIIth century by the dei Pazzi family. In the first decades of the fifteenth century, the castle was considerably enlarged and embellished. The altar-piece in the chapel was realized by Andrea del Castagno in 1465. On April 26th 1478, the dei Pazzi family were involved in a conspiracy plot. The failure of this plot led to the confiscation of the conspirators' possessions which became the property of the Medici family. Trebbio underwent radical restructurization in order to take on the appearance of a real castle. At present, it is surmounted by two angular towers and surrounded by a park of forest trees ending where the olive-groves (around 4000 plants) and vineyards begin. Not far away, a farmhouse contains the vat room and part of the ageing cellar which is also located in the cellars of the castle which were realized between the XII and XV centuries, with barrel and cross vaults. Nearby, a riding stables has been set up in a farmhouse.

HISTORY OF THE ESTATE AND ITS PEOPLE
The Count and Countess Baj Macario bought Trebbio Castle in 1968 when it was in a state of abandonment. Eugenia Baj Macario personally followed the work of restoring the buildings and planting vineyards. She then began producing wine, following its qualification and the marketing of the bottled wine. The Countess continued running the estate until her death in 1990 since when it has been run by her children Anna, Mira and Alberto. BIOGRAPHY OF THE OWNER - The Baj Macario brother and sisters speak both Italian and German fluently. Under the guidance of their mother they have learned about agricultural activites with plenty of direct practice. Their present objective is to bring their wines to top quality levels.
