We are pleased to report the article from Corriere del Vino, “Chianti Docg and Morellino di Scansano: our tastings and comments on the previews”, written by Andrea Radic. An in-depth look at the two historic Tuscan denominations, told through tastings, impressions and evaluations of the new vintages presented at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence.

Below is an excerpt from the full article.
New formula for the Preview of the Chianti Docg and Morellino di Scansano Docg denominations.
Giovanni Busi, president of the Chianti Wine Consortium is optimistic about the ability of Tuscan wines to face the markets with good opportunities, despite the economic uncertainties and the less than positive geopolitical scenarios. “We have an excellent quantity of wine, of excellent quality, in our cellars” he underlines.
The goal is to be “Increasingly present on world markets – continues Busi – to be able to offer the product to an even wider audience of people. We owe the great quality that Chianti can offer to the many companies that have invested in their vineyards. Our business cards are history and quality. In this sense – concludes Busi – for our Consortium and Morellino we ask for an increase in contributions destined for consortia for internalization projects, in order to be able to facilitate companies in reaching markets around the world, expanding opportunities for everyone”.
New formula this year for the Chianti Lovers & Rosso Morellino previews.
The Fortezza da Basso in Florence, has opened its doors exclusively to journalists in the sector. For the “Chianti Lovers” the month will be May with an event that will last an entire week with events spread throughout the Chianti area, Florence and other Tuscan cities, with companies present with their products. The title “Chianti Week” is already representative.
The Consorzio Morellino di Scansano participated with 32 wines, of which 21 vintage and 11 reserve. The president of the Consorzio Tutela del Morellino di Scansano, Bernardo Guicciardini Calamai, comments: “We present ourselves at this Preview with optimism, strong in the fact that our beloved Morellino di Scansano is in excellent health”.
“We are back from the international fair Wine Paris – echoes the director of the Morellino Consortium Alessio Durazzi – in which we registered great interest from the most mature and competitive foreign markets such as North America and Northern Europe, which are increasingly looking for wines characterized by natural freshness, pleasantness and authenticity, intrinsic and identifying characteristics of our Sangiovese della costa“.
The next events of the denomination are already scheduled: Maremmma (March 10), Rosso Morellino (June 13-15) and InGravel (September 13-14).
