Fattoria Il Lago is an ancient estate, located in the Municipality of Dicomano about 30 km from Florence. The company, which in the past belonged to the Marquises Vivai Bartolini Salimbeni, a noble and ancient Florentine family, is part of the Chianti Rufina wine-growing area with its almost 400 hectares.
In the year 1962 the estate passed into the ownership of the Spagnoli family, which, thanks to a long experience in the building branch, started a wide and continuous process of recovery of both the real estate and the agronomic heritage with particular attention to the wine sector, addressing the choice of indigenous vines, essentially of Sangiovese.
The company, with its 21 hectares of vineyards located in the best slopes between 300 and 600 meters above sea level, takes on almost mountain characteristics found in the productions that are revealed with connotations of extreme elegance and freshness.
From the vineyards of the farm are born the “Chianti Rufina” the first company wine, a simple but pleasant product for its delicate characteristics, the “Chianti Rufina Riserva”, a red wine with great structure and longevity, the “Pian de ‘Guardi”, true cru of the farm that through particular techniques manages to best express the great potential of the company terroir and consequently to maximize our main grape variety, Sangiovese.
To the above mentioned wines are added the new proposals, the “Rosé” produced by pure chance in 2008 which turned out to be an extremely refined wine, the “Syrah” an intriguing and highly typical wine and finally the undisputed prince of all wines, the “Pinot Nero” grape variety par excellence, which here has found its ideal terroir in which it reveals itself with all its most fascinating characters.
