Tenuta Bossi, owned by the Gondi family since 1592, has always been famous for its wine. Located on the wooded hills north-east of Florence, in the heart of Chianti Rufina, a wine-growing area famous since the Etruscan era. This gem is located in a vineyard valley, in the hills 18 km from Florence, between 200 and 400 meters above sea level.
The company covers 315 hectares of which 19 hectares of vineyards and 32 of olive groves, as well as cereals and woods. The majestic Renaissance villa, which dominates the valley with its monumental park and cellars, was restored and modified in the centuries following the purchase. Next to the villa, a three-altar church was built by Antonino Gondi.
In the 19 hectares of vineyards the grapes are harvested with particular care which are vinified in the cellars located in the basement of the Villa, built in the 15th century and renovated in later periods; here the red wines, after a suitable aging in the numerous oak barrels and in barriques, are refined in the bottle. About 900 hl of wine are produced between Chianti Rufina DOCG, Super Tuscan IGT, Bianco DOC, Rosato IGT and Vin Santo DOC.
