The interesting discoveries continue in the tasting sessions of WinesCritic.com. It is the turn of Chianti Rufina, a land of poorly constructed and genuine wines.

Chianti was born in a geologically very homogeneous area, in the south of the Apennines between the provinces of Arezzo, Siena and Florence. In particular, Rufina is the smallest of the Chianti sub-areas, located in the province of Florence, where the production of the famous DOCG “Chianti Rufina” is allowed.

There are 4 municipalities that are part of it: Dicomano, Londa, Rufina, Pelago and Pontassieve and despite its small size, Rufina, is the third sub-area for production, after Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi, having more than 7% of its territory cultivated with vines.

This historical area is characterized by a climatic compromise of important compensation between the humidity that allows to keep the soils wet and therefore the plantations not short of water, and very hot summers, essential for preserving the health of the vines. Unfortunately, in this historical moment, the scorching heat of the summer months and the lack of rain are causing various damage to agriculture, but fortunately emergency irrigation is allowed in these areas …
